Happy (Early) Father's Day and Happy (Belated) Birthday, Dad!

To my dad for an early Father’s Day and late birthday gift: your creativity and love for nature has come to life in your photography, and it's inspiring to me. I’ve watched you go through different hobbies and combine passions over the years – from running to photography to mountain biking. You have a strong inclination towards health and wellness, and you like it.

You have your own photography portfolio online and have published your own books. I’ve always admired the fact that you’ll just go for it and pursue these creative endeavors until you see them come to life – despite the fact that you won’t pursue professional opportunities for yourself. I hope you’ll consider doing so in the future and following what you’re interested in for a job.

You’ve done incredible work on the house. I remember when the downstairs bathroom had baby blue tiles and a bathtub, with a towel rack that pulled out. The cat food dish that Mint eats out of now was the one that BooBoo, Emmy, and Yang all used in this same bathroom (I hope they Rest in Peace). The remodel looks amazing with gorgeous tiling and a beautiful shower, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the house this summer and the improvements you make.

I feel very privileged to grow up with the home theater setup you’ve had for the last decade and more. Your love of films and music has also had a strong influence on me and even though I haven’t seen a lot of classics, there are plenty you’ve made me watch. I’ve enjoyed growing up with Star Wars and Star Trek and being able to know at least some of the cultural references. I suppose the same can be said with football.

The cooking that you make is always on a gourmet level – I really love the duck that you make, and the escargot is also delicious. Thank you for making it and please continue to invite me over when you make these meals. You’re also the reason that beef stew and rice is one of my favorite comfort and casual foods now. I can never make the rice the same way that you do, though.

It’s clear that you love Penny and that you fell in love with her at first sight. Thank you for taking care of her and bringing her out on all of your outdoor adventures both when walking, biking, and kayaking. I’m sure she loves it as much as you love her. I’m really glad that she’s getting a lot of exercise and times outdoors compared to the time that I give her at home.

Happy Father’s Day and a belated Happy Birthday!
